This section of the user guide provides a description of each control and its functions.

MAIN TOOL BAR (top of screen)

PROJECT

NEW - select to start a new project.

Enter information for title, author and select a version, then click OK, (or cancel)

The new project will then be started, under the name you have chosen as the title.

LOAD - select to open an existing project.

When the new window opens, to load an existing project, click on the .xml file with the

project name (do NOT open the folder with the project name).

SAVE - click once to save a project under its current name

SAVE AS - click once to save a project under a new name and enter the new name in the window

which has opened. Then click OK and your project is saved under a new name.



PRINT - select to prepare your script for printing

The full script is seen in the window. To export the script to a word processing

programme, highlight the text with your mouse and press 'control c' to copy

the text, then open your other programme and insert the text. You can then amend

the layout and type-face as you require.

There are three options, 'page set-up', 'preview' and 'print'

'page set-up' enables you to choose the paper format for printing and to select a printer.

'preview' provides several views of your script, with a zoom function.

'print' enables you to select the appropriate printer and 'print'.

NB: If you have broken up speeches to enable the creation of more audio files,

then amending the text, or copying to a word processing programme before printing

may be advisable. BPC Screenplay does not save the amendments made in the print

window before printing.

The 'print' option can also be selected from the 'script window'

WINDOW

SCRIPT - open or close the script window

TIMELINE - open or close the timeline window

MEDIA PLAYER - open or close the media player

LIBRARY - open or close the project media library

DETAIL - open or close the detail window

HELP

HELP - open, or close the 'user guide'

ABOUT - open or close information about the programme.

CONTROLS WITHIN THE WORKING WINDOWS.

SCRIPT WINDOW

The script window displays the Project Title you have selected when creating a project, or saving as a new project.

Buttons: 'CREATE SCENE' - click once to create a scene

'DELETE SCENE' - click once to delete the scene you have displayed in the script window.

'CREATE AUDIO' - after writing your scene and saving, click once to create the audio files, which will be display on the time-line.

'PRINT' - click once to open the 'print menus' and follow the options.

SCENE TAGS: When a scene is created, a tag appears above the text window with the text 'new scene'. Scene numbers are added to the script automatically. To change the wording on the tag, double click and enter either a scene number or a reference to the action. The order of the scenes can be changed simply with the forward and back buttons in the script window, then saving. The selected scene will be moved one scene at a time with each click. This scene order will be saved for printing.

WRITING TEXT.

LOCATION: Type INT: followed by the location and return (enter), or EXT: followed by the location and return (enter).

DESCRIPTION AND ACTION: Add your text on a new line.

CHARACTER: on a new line, press TAB and the character name can be entered in the middle of the screen. Press return (enter) to add dialogue.

DIALOGUE: After a character name has been entered, press return to begin writing dialogue. At the end of the speech, press 'shift' and 'return(enter)'. (This is important for the creation of audio files)


TIMELINE.


The TIMELINE displays a single scene.

The timeline has four tracks for media. The two lower tracks are for audio, the two others for jpeg images.

DIALOGUE AUDIO is added when the create audio button in the SCRIPT WINDOW is selected.

IMAGES (jpegs) and Additional AUDIO (.wavs) can be placed on the TIMELINE by dragging and dropping the file from the MEDIA LIBRARY.

IMAGES and AUDIO can be removed from the TIMELINE by right clicking the mouse.

VIEW - Use the zoom control to see the timeline in more detail.

THE MEDIA LIBRARY.

IMPORT - click to find an image or audio file.

Drag and Drop to the TIMELINE

THE MEDIA PLAYER

PLAY - Plays the Scene.

PAUSE - pauses.

STOP - stops the Scene.

DETAILS

Write text and save as required.
